This package contains configuration tools for the MFC-100, MFC-200, MFC-300 and MFC-400 series of Licht multi-function controllers. All the tools contained within are free for all uses, and may be redistributed without restriction. Requirements (LINUX): - Fedora 12 or newer, if using an .rpm file - Ubuntu 10.04 or newer, if using a .deb file - Support for the USB FTDI Single Port Serial Driver (ftdi_sio kernel driver) The requirements above are typically fulfilled by modern distributions (shipped in 2008 or later). Kernel support for the USB FTDI driver is usually provided with a pre-build kernel module, which will automatically load whenever you connect the Licht controller to your computer. Requirements (Windows): - Windows 2000, XP, Vista or 7 - FTDI USB drivers (linked below in the installations instructions) Please note that this software is for controllers with USB connections ONLY. No other interface is supported. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (LINUX) --------------------------------- 1) Install by running the following command in a terminal: rpm -U <.rpm file for your architecture> (if running Fedora) dpkg -i <.deb file for your architecture> (if running Ubuntu) 2) Run the program for your controller (for example, the mfc300t binary corresponds to the configuration utility for MFC-100/T, MFC-200/T, MFC-300/T and MFC-400/T controllers). INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (WINDOWS) ----------------------------------- 1) Download and install the FTDI D2XX driver, which should be available from your Licht controller's web page (at www.licht-labs.com). It is also available from FTDI at www.ftdichip.com. As of this writing (Sept. 2008), the most recent FTDI driver file is called "CDM 2.04.06 WHQL Certified.zip". Note that this .zip file does not contain an executable installer. You should direct Windows to the folder containing the driver files whenever it presents you the "Found New Hardware" wizard. 2) Unzip the mfc300-1.2.zip file (which you may have already done, since you're reading this). 3) Run the program for your controller (for example, double-click mfc300t.exe to run the configuration utility for the MFC-100/T, MFC-200/T, MFC-300/T and MFC-400/T controllers).
